Welcome to Socialpolitan Fiction Writing Craft - Where Writers Meet and Hone Their Craft

The SFWC is a not-for-profit writers support group, organized to provide educational, networking, and marketing support for individuals interested in learning the craft and business of fiction writing.

I believe fiction writing is a Craft.

In the hands of a writer who has mastered the Craft, it can become more than that. It can become Art.

Art = Talent + Craft

But the bedrock is Craft. There are fundamental techniques to be studied, unfamiliar tools to be mastered, tricks of the trade to be learned. And it all takes time. Are you a fiction writer that's yet to be published? Maybe you're published but still need information about writing. Not sure how to format that manuscript or query letter? How about that synopsis? This community will showcase some of the best information for fiction writers from all over the net.

You have your inspiration, the seed of a story germinating in your mind. You are creating a new world from your imagination. You plan. You write. You realize that you know nothing about an important aspect of your character's life. You could write around that gap in your knowledge and hope you don't make any glaring errors, or you can do some research and fill that gap.

Discover the industry secrets and practical advice you need to become a successful fiction novelist. Find out how to get published and the easiest ways to break into writing. Creative fiction writing tips, articles, writing elements,  free online writing portfolio, and much more. All genres welcome!

We welcome new members, both novice writers and professionals, as well as anyone in the publishing industry with a vested interest in nurturing the art of fiction writing.

"There are three rules for writing the novel. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are." —W. Somerset Maugham

"Any man who keeps working is not a failure. He may not be a great writer, but if he applies the old-fashioned virtues of hard, constant labor, he'll eventually make some kind of career for himself as writer." —Ray Bradbury

Authors, we'd appreciate anyone who would like to contribute fiction writing articles or fiction writing tips to this site. Your valuable experience and knowledge may be just the boost an aspiring or fellow author may need. Please share with us!

The Kafka paradox: art depends on truth, but truth, being indivisible, cannot know itself: to tell the truth is to lie. Thus the writer is the truth, and yet when he speaks he lies.
